The Cornerstone Church of Bourbonnais, IL has begun a nation-wide search for a Campus Pastor to lead their Manteno, IL congregation. With God’s help, this person will join a core group of dedicated volunteers to develop a healthy and growing community that demonstrates the Cornerstone mission of “connecting the disconnected, building the believer.” The ideal candidate will be a catalytic leader with a dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ, gifted in the areas of evangelism and discipleship. The Campus pastor will be responsible for the growth, health, and alignment of the congregation through leading the ministry team of the congregation, planning and leading the weekly gathering (including preaching each week), connecting newcomers, and building up believers.
Cornerstone Church has been led by Pastor Bob Grysen, the founding pastor, since 1995. This dynamic community-based congregation is a missional, evangelical and Reformed ministry seeking to influence its region for Jesus Christ. In its short life, the congregation has become a spiritual cornerstone of its community. The ministry is supported by two beautiful and fully-equipped campuses. The creatively renovated former retail carpet store, which is now the Manteno campus, is strategically located across the street from Manteno High School. It includes a great gathering space, more than adequate support space, as well as a significant amount of yet-to-be developed space. The ministry is enriched by the presence of college students from Olivet Nazarene University and Kankakee Community College.
The family-friendly community of Manteno, but seven miles north of Bourbonnais and less than an hour south of downtown Chicago, is a village in Kankakee County with a population of 9,300, up from about 6,400 in 2000. It is a bustling community with plenty of things to go, see and stay, including the Kankakee River State Park. Plus, it has access to multiple modes of public transportation. On top of that, Manteno and the surrounding region have been repeatedly ranked as one of the best places to live in the US.
