Crown Point Church Seeks Associate Pastor

The First Christian Reformed Church of Crown Point (IN) has begun a search for an Associate Pastor who enjoys building relationships and fostering congregational life. As a member of the Pastoral Team, which includes Senior Pastor Joel Sheeres and Youth/Mission Pastor Jamie Bogaard, the Associate Pastor will have opportunities to share in every aspect of  pastoral ministry, including preaching, but will have responsibility for Congregational Life. In this role, he will design and implement a plan for the congregation which allows members to deepen their relationships with Christ and one another.

The First Christian Reformed Church is a thriving and growing congregation of over 700 members. The congregation’s vision for ministry is to encourage people to Begin a spiritual journey with the Lord, Belong to Christ and his church, and to Become the kind of Christian who leads others to Jesus. In that about 300 individuals have become members of the congregation during the past five or six years, the leadership of the church sees a great need to call an Associate Pastor who focuses on the second pillar of the vision statement: Belong.

The city of Crown Point, which includes nearly 30,000 people, has a hometown atmosphere, with its historic downtown square (anchored by the Old Lake County Courthouse), numerous unique shops, parks, golf courses, and more; yet Crown Point is in close proximity with Chicago and Lake Michigan beaches. It is also the home of Crown Point Christian School.

The ideal candidate for this position will be gifted by the Spirit with a pastor’s heart, enjoy working in a team environment, score high in the area of social intelligence, and possess the aptitude to “make the plan and work the plan.” He will have earned a Master of Divinity degree from an accredited seminary and will be ordained or prepared for ordination within the Christian Reformed Church in North America.
