The First Reformed Church of DeMotte (IN) has begun a search for her Next Senior Pastor. First Church, an externally-focused congregation of nearly 500 members, is committed to connecting with God, developing Christ-like character, and building God’s kingdom. The ministry is supported by the an excellent staff that includes Pastor John Huff who looks forward to transitioning from the “first chair” to the “second,” a place from which he will serve as the Pastor of Administration and Evangelism. It also includes includes a Director of Worship and Music and a Director of Children and Youth Ministry. The ministry is supported by an excellent and well-kept facility, but plans have begun for relocation to a new facility.
The congregation is praying that the Lord will provide a Senior Pastor who not only loves to preach, but desires to lead the congregation, by word and example, into effective engagement with the community. Opportunities abound for a pastor who loves to build and guide a ministry team, direct and participate in the pastoral care ministry of the congregation, and follow the prompting of the Spirit as a faithful and diligent servant of the Lord.
The lovely community of DeMotte, a town of nearly 4,000 people (surrounded by another 4,000 residents), is rich in history and charm. Known for its rural family values and spirit of community service, DeMotte is a great community within which to raise a family. It is the home of outstanding schools, including the Kankakee Valley School Corporation, DeMotte Christian School, and Covenant Christian High School. It is blessed with beautiful parks and the Sandy Pines Country Club. Also, located in the northwest Indiana county of Jasper, just 65 south of Chicago, residents live in close proximity to countless cultural opportunities.
The ideal candidate for First Church will gifted by the Spirit with a pastor’s heart. He will also be a gifted communicator of the Gospel and a leader of the Church. He will have earned a Master of Divinity degree from an accredited seminary and will be ordained or prepared for ordination within the Reformed Church in America.
