Bethel Christian Reformed Church (Fulton, IL), a congregation located in the small and out-of-the way community of Fulton – and alongside the not so small and out-of-the-way Mississippi River – has begun its search for a new pastor. Bethel Church, a highly relational and dedicated congregation of about 175 members, is known throughout the area for its commitment to the Scriptures and to prayer, as well as for its outstanding ministries to children. The congregation has embraced its mission to “reach up to know Jesus and to reach out to make Him known” in what is known as the “Gateway Area.” Its ministry is supported by an excellent and well-kept facility.
The congregation is praying that the Lord will provide a pastor who not only loves to preach, but desires to lead the congregation, by word and example, into effective engagement with the community. Opportunities abound for a pastor who loves planning and leading the worship services of the congregation, providing pastoral care for the congregation, and following the prompting of the Spirit as a faithful and diligent servant of the Lord.
The City of Fulton, Illinois is a quaint community, rich in heritage and charm – a great community to raise a family. State parks, water ways, and bike paths provide numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation. It is also home of Unity Christian Schools. Fulton, Illinois lies “across the river” from Clinton, Iowa, home to about 30,000 residents.
The ideal candidate for Bethel Church will thrive in a relational environment – the kind of pastor whose door is open more than closed. As a solo pastor, the ideal candidate will also enjoy juggling several responsibilities simultaneously. Finally, the ideal candidate will have earned a Master of Divinity degree from an accredited seminary and will be ordained or prepared for ordination within the Christian Reformed Church in North America.
