Calvary Christian Reformed Church (Edina, MN) awaits the arrival of a Lead Pastor (LP), a person responsible for preaching, shepherding, and leadership. As a preacher, the LP will prepare biblically relevant sermons, as well as planning and leading engaging worship services. As a shepherd, the LP will express love for the flock by providing spiritual direction and pastoral care while walking with people through significant seasons of life. As a leader, the LP will work alongside a dedicated group of individuals as a coach, mentor, first among equals, and leader among leaders.
The ideal candidate for this exciting opportunity is a godly and humble Christ-follower who is a gifted communicator and leader, open‐minded and able to maintain healthy boundaries, comfortable relating to people, and who thrives in a metropolitan and suburban setting. Preference will be given to candidates ordained or willing to be ordained within the Christian Reformed Church in North America. Consideration will be given to those ordained within the Reformed Church in America and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Calvary Church is a multigenerational congregation, founded in 1961 in Bloomington, MN. In 2002, Calvary moved five miles north to a much larger facility in Edina, a city on the southwest border of Minneapolis. Calvary recently engaged in a Mission and Ministry Renewal (MMR) process during which the congregation identified four objectives for the immediate future: local community engagement, relationship building, practicing hospitality, and impacting the neighborhoods where the congregants live and work. Calvary is affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church in North America and, like many congregations in this fellowship, values its partnership with the denomination and Christian day school education, such as that provided by Calvin Christian School.
Minneapolis, one of America’s finest cities, is much more than the host of the most recent Super Bowl and includes much more than the Mall of America. It is a world-class city with outstanding museums, a thriving theater scene, professional sports teams, excellent hospitals, the University of Minnesota and other noteworthy educational institutions, an international airport, and twenty-two lakes. Plus, residents get to enjoy four distinct seasons each year. In short, you’ve never met a place quite like it.
