Pastor of Discipleship Opportunity (Elmhurst, IL)

Elmhurst (IL) Christian Reformed Church, a congregation of approximately 1500 people, has begun a search for a Pastor of Discipleship to help the congregation live into its vision of being God’s source of shining light and living water in the western suburbs of Chicago, by drawing people to know Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and serving as Jesus.

The congregation has identified five activities by which it hopes to live into its vision: worship, fellowship, discipleship, service, and outreach. The Pastor of Discipleship shall be responsible for building and nurturing the discipleship culture of the congregation (children, youth, and adults). This person will also have the privilege of sharing responsibility with the Elders for the pastoral care of the congregation. This person may preach up to ten times a year.

The ideal candidate for this excellent opportunity will be a humble Christ-follower, proven leader, wise shepherd, skilled team builder, and passionate disciple-maker. This person will also be culturally astute and understand how best to position the church to engage younger generations. Finally, the ideal candidate will be ordained by a historically Reformed denomination (preferably the Christian Reformed Church in North America or Reformed Church in America), or be ordainable by the CRCNA.

The campus of the ECRC is situated in the beautiful Chicago-suburb of Elmhurst, Illinois. Elmhurst is home to nearly 50,000 residents. It includes a vibrant downtown, an award winning library, a new regional hospital, an historic college campus, direct commuter train service to downtown Chicago, excellent schools, lovely parks, Timothy Christian Schools, and much, much more.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for discipleship and who longs to advance the Kingdom of God through the local church.
