River Terrace Church (RTC), a congregation affiliated with the CRCNA, exists to glorify God and make disciples by cultivating hearts and minds to flourish in Christ. Organized in 1935 as the First Christian Reformed Church of Lansing, the congregation moved in the 1960s to its current location, adjacent to Michigan State University (MSU), to serve the growing MSU community. The congregation is united in a dynamic Reformed worldview, but the membership represents a diversity of perspectives, backgrounds, and levels of education and income. The congregation remains open to differences of opinion, but treasures its shared love of Christ and its shared desire to engage the world in his name.

East Lansing is located about half-way between Grand Rapids and Detroit and directly east of and adjacent to Lansing, Michigan, the state capital. With a population of more than 400,000, the greater Lansing area is the third most populous metropolitan area in Michigan. It is also a reflection of the many different challenges and blessings of living in America. RTC is located near prosperous suburban communities, a vibrant university town, a poorer urban community that is still transitioning out of manufacturing, as well as smaller, main-street town communities. Its major employers include the state government, the university, two major hospitals, General Motors, and life and auto insurance companies.
