The Peace Christian Reformed Church in South Holland, IL now approaches a crossroad. In response, this small but dedicated congregation of Christ-followers has renewed its commitment to be a relevant, dynamic, and vital witness for Jesus Christ to one another and to the community. For this purpose, they await the arrival of a pastor willing to help them meet that challenge.
The ideal candidate for this exciting opportunity is a maturing Christ-follower who has been gifted by the Spirit as a pastor, communicator, and consensus-building leader. He is also bi-cultural, that is, a person who is comfortable in and understands both African American and Euro-American cultures. Such a pastor will help the congregation meet the challenge of being a predominantly Anglo-American congregation in a predominantly African American community.
The faith, family and future oriented community of South Holland is located twenty miles south of downtown Chicago, a world-class city with beautiful parks and a multitude of opportunities for exploration. Founded in 1846 and incorporated as a village in 1894, South Holland has retained much of its ethnic and agricultural heritage for over one hundred years. As farmlands were converted to housing developments and industrial parks, and as the population grew larger and more diverse, South Holland has embraced a new role as a racially and ethnically diverse residential suburb.
